We recently received the Aqua Leisure First Fitness Balance Battle Combat Fitness Game for my kiddos to try out.  The game teaches balance equilibrium and forms agility skills, plus helps children learn to react and recover in a “battle” situation. It includes 2 soft inflatable battle sticks and 2 inflatable balance pads.  The day it arrived in the mail happened to be a very rainy day which put a bit of a damper on the excitement of it’s arrival. 

I opened the box and was very happily surprised with the quality of the pieces and quickly blew up the two battle sticks.  I was a bit disappointed to find that the balance pads needed a bicycle pump to inflate as it did not state that anywhere on the box or in the description, however we quickly found one so it was not a big problem.  Once I assessed the game, I decided it would actually be possible to play in the house without much worry of injury or destruction. 

From the first game my children were hooked.  They both very much enjoyed the challenge of the balance pads and it actually makes the game very fair regardless of the size or skill level of the players.  Balance is the key and often my much smaller and weaker daughter would win over my son simply because her balance is much better.  We have been playing it for a few weeks and it is holding up very well- even from all the abuse my children have given to it.  I have also seen marked improvement in my daughter’s ability to hit a target and in my son’s balance- so it’s not only fun, but it also works!!

My kids are little builders and destroyers. It’s like they take their lessons from construction workers and create an elaborate plan, and then destroys it with just as much precision to create the optimal mess!!

When the CitiBlocs found their way to my door two weeks ago, my toddlers were giddy with excitement! I opened the perfectly proportioned block that they were in knowing they would NEVER be so contained again.

My children are all taught that most of life is full of non-gender roles.

What I used to call policemen, are now police officers. Teachers are male and female as can be presidents and military officials.

So when given the chance to take my toddler girls outside of the realm of their traditional apron and kitchen playtime as they normally have, (I got them a kitchen, pots pans and matching aprons) it was wonderful to give them these cute outfits to expand their playtime.

My son was so happy to hear that we would be getting to play with an exercise ball from First Fitness as well as a Deluxe Babyboat® Inflatable Pool Seat from Aqua-Leisure! Well, HE doesn’t really get to play with the baby boat much – but he blew it up for me so I could see what it looked like!

The Deluxe Babyboat is awesome! It fits babies aged 6-18 months and features heavy duty double laminated vinyl and a cool soft, moveable playmobile that will keep baby occupied while adjusting to the water. The one we received also had a spot where Mom or Dad can be “attached” to the float! The leg holes are incredibly comfortable feeling too – they won’t cut into babies skin like some other models of baby floats I’ve used before. I know our new little one will have a blast using this float when it warms up!

The 26″ Play Ball (exercise ball) we received couldn’t come at a better time since I’ve been sitting on my own (adult size) exercise ball for a couple weeks now and he keeps trying to steal it! The Magic School Bus has long been a favorite in our home. Our personal library is filled with the many books, movies, science kits and more offered by The Magic School Bus series. I was, of course, thrilled when we were offered a chance to review one of the newest additions to the series: The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge.

From the first page this story my children were hooked.  Ms. Frizzle takes the class on yet another amazing adventure, this time to explore the concept of Global Warming.  With her wonderful sense of wit and humor, Joanna Cole brings this topic to life in a new and easy to understand way.  Accompanied by amazingly bright and action filled illustrations, Bruce Degen truly brings the scientific concepts to life and makes it so much fun to learn!!

The pages are not only filled with wonderful information but also many challenges to children offering ways they can make small changes to help affect this worldwide problem.  After reading it numerous times, I have found my own children reminding us to turn off extra lights and to unplug unnecessary items when not in use.  The truth held in this little book really made an impact and my little ones are now proponents of change in our small sphere of influence.

Our family are huge board game fans and we often host “Family Fun Nights” consisting of pizza, ice cream, and our favorite board games. When I received our copy of Mastermind to review, I knew that it would be a great fit for our next “Family Fun Night”- and I was so right!!
