GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

My four-year old had the opportunity to test drive a really cool toy … the Skuut! The Skuut is a neat wooden bike without pedals for kids aged 2 to 5 that teaches kids balance, steering, coordination and bike riding independence.

My son thought it was super cool and began “walking” with the bike right away. Unfortunately, he only played with it for around 15 minutes before he went back to his “regular” bike (with training wheels). But – I believe this happened only because he’s already used to pedals and he couldn’t understand why the Skuut didn’t have them.

He plays with the Skuut every couple days (now that the weather is nice) and seems to be getting more and more comfortable with it. I think this is due to the fact that we now have a fence around our yard and I’m not constantly screaming at him to not ride down the hill towards the small creek in the backyard. I mean – it wouldn’t be very safe for him to go “Skuut-ing” into the water, right?

As a parent – I see the benefits of the Skuut. I think if my son was a little younger this would be the perfect “first bike” for him. Riding on the Skuut forces kids to learn balance. If they already have a bike with training wheels they learn to rely on the training wheels instead of learning how to balance on their own.
