Proactive Parenting Seminars On Demand Giveaway

GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

I’m not sure if it’s a cultural thing or a hereditary thing, but I seem to be always yelling at my kids. When I had the wonderful opportunity to review 10 Proactive Parenting Seminars On-Demand, I was more than thrilled, I was jumping up and down like an excited monkey who chanced upon a huge bunch of bananas!

I wondered, if I could get out of this vicious cycle of reacting to my three boys. I never thought it would be possible to just stop reacting and start responding to their actions. I was rather embarrassed, when the speaker asked whether I felt if the intensity of the yelling matches the situation that I’m yelling about? Shamefully, I hung my head down and felt like I was caught with my hand in the cookie jar.

The fact that I’m yelling so much and none of my ‘requests’ seem to stick to their minds, only means one very obvious thing. Yelling doesn’t work at all. It seemed to only make them ‘switch off’. And, the yelling I was doing, stemmed from my very own stress. Stress that should not be transferred to innocent little kids, even if they decide to paint your gorgeous cream sofa, a blast of rainbow colours. Then again, isn’t it my fault that I chose a cream colored sofa? Heh!

By giving practical day-to-day tips on how to respond and discipline, instead of reacting and punishing, I have managed to tone down the yelling. Yes! It was very easy to apply, easy to remember and if I forgot anything, I just put my iPod on, and listen to what it was I was meant to do.

I have to say, it’s heaps better than reading a book. I mean, who’s got time to read a book on disciplining? I mean, to be fair in this review, when I downloaded these seminars, I also borrowed a similarly titled book (about disciplining) from my local library, and I couldn’t even get pass one page without any interruptions. Just listening to these ‘live’ seminars while I was preparing dinner or eating my lunch (yes, our famous multi-tasking abilities), it was just too easy!

I don’t have the perfect family yet, as my kids do still get up to mischief and there are days when I’m so exhausted that I still do react! But then I remind myself, it won’t work in the long term…so I’m still learning, one baby step at a time. It’s already so hard to correct my behaviour, what more a child!

ABOUT: Proactive Parenting was created by Sharon Silver, a parent (just like you and me!), an educator and a powerful speaker. She has an education in Parenting and Early Childhood Development, four certifications as a Parent Educator and of course, very practical experience as a mom of 2 young adults. She created Proactive Parenting because she wanted to help parents focus on what can be done, instead of punishing their kids.

BUY IT: These Proactive Parenting’s On-Demand Seminars, provide every parent valuable insights into the pre-school (1 – 6 years old) child’s mind and why they act the way they do! It’s like finding that secret key to that secret door to their minds! Respect begets respect, so, if you respect your child and respond positively, your child will respect you and behave positively. I highly recommend these seminars because just having a child, does not automatically qualify you as a ‘parent’. It’s hard work, and we all need all the help we can get!

I was an elementary school counselor for about 20 years, and know what you mean – sometimes even just a few key tips can make a big difference.

Nobody seems to have time to read MY book either, LOL. Seriously, it’s amazing how many people will order your book and then take I guess forever to read it. At least that’s the pattern with my friends and acquaintances.

Hmm, maybe I should try yelling at them…

For my daughter and son in law who now have my grandchildren. They are both teachers and I feel this seminar will be of great value to them. So different when it is your own children!
