Let me start off by saying that airplanes completely gross me out. I’ve flown a bunch of times in my life, my son (at three years old) has already flown around 10 times and my husband flies all the time – and each and every time we all get sick. We take all the proper precautions (like hand washing and getting rest) but the airlines have made it a little more difficult since they don’t allow a lot of liquids on the flight. I wonder if you can ever still bring hand sanitizer! In addition to all the cough and sneeze germs (that you might be able to avoid) – you also have to worry about those pillows you and your kids are resting your heads on! It’s been confirmed by airlines (and their cleaning staff) that the pillow cases on the flights are usually not changed after each flight – but changed at the end of the day. There could be 5 or more people using that pillow before you! Staph much? How about that super flu MRSA? Those germs can live up to 90 days on fabric! Lovely!

I’m flying for the first time to attend my son’s wedding next spring. It’s an international flight, and the idea of the germs on the plane creeps me out!

I travel quite a bit. I have always tried to take extra precautions when flying to prevent picking up unwanted germs, but I’m ashamed to admit that I never thought about the pillow! This would be a great item to stash in a carryon bag!
