This book ‘If I could keep you little’, written and illustrated by Marianne Richmond, couldn’t have come at a better time. My littlest guy who is turning 3 in a couple of months, will also be attending kinder this year. For the longest time, we kept referring to him as baby, or b
aby bear. Because he is our baby. At the back of my mind, I knew he was going to kinder, but it didn’t really dawn on me, that he is growing up, and is no longer a baby.
A endearingly bittersweet book where parents who don’t want their babies to grow up too quickly, and yet, want to see their kids realise their dreams and experience life’s ups and downs.
About Marianne Richmond :
Marianne Richmond, a mother to four beautiful children, started as her own greeting card company (Marianne Richmond Studios, Inc) and has become a recognized creator of numerous books that celebrate milestones in life, memorable journeys, and relationships. Since her first book in 1997, Gift of An Angel, writer and artist, Marianne Richmond has touched the lives of millions over the past decade through her line of greeting cards and gift books. Do check out her website and blog for her extensive collection of cards and books.
Buy it! : I love Marianne’s illustrations, in watercolor and simple lines, capturing moments of childhood beginnings on one page, and the other, their limitless possibilities. I also love typographic books, and Marianne uses a selection of typography to highlight the significance of their meaning in each sentence. All in all, very beautiful artwork in a book. As a parent, you always want your child to remain just the way they are, but at the same time, you know that growing up is part of the package, and there’s nothing to stop that. Her book captured exactly how I felt, and reminded me to savor every minute of their childhood, be it their tantrumy, sicky or happy days. Marianne’s books (e-books as well) are available on Amazon, Sourcebooks.com or at her very own website.

I would like to read The Gift of a Memory. My mom and best friend passed away on December 19, 2002 from large cell lymphoma cancer. She was a very special woman who was loved by everyone who knew her. My sister honored her memory by naming her daughter Helena Ruth, and my niece is naming her daughter MaKenna Ruth after both Mom and Dad. I miss her very much. I have been wanting this book “If I Could Keep You Little.” My grandson is four years old, and my daughter is starting to experience those little twinges where you don’t want your child to grow up so quickly.

My Shoes Take Me Where I Want to Go would be my choice. My son loves his shoes. He has several pairs of Shawn White shoes and thinks he skates better. THis will entertain him.
I would like to read: Gift of a Memory and also share it with my mother. I battled cancer a few years back and we have lost most of our family to cancer — this would be a great book to read and share together.
