I had the opportunity to check out some products from a great company called Born Free recently! Here are the wonderful items that I received:

• CoolFlow Pacifiers: These pacifiers are particular cool because they have an angled shape nipple, and the curved shield has holes that work as an air vent. They come in 2 stage sizes and feature attractive colors.
• Twist n’ Straw Cup: 14fl oz toddler cup with twist straw mouth is not only BPA free, but also spill free! It comes in blue, yellow, green and pink-perfect for all the kids headed to pre-school or hanging around the house!
• 5 oz. Glass Bottle with Sleeves: These bottles are essential for the diaper bag, they are the perfect size and the glass bottle is the safest feeding solution. The box comes with a level 1 nipple, and  travel cap.

I honestly have to say that I was most impressed with the glass bottle! There are a lot of worries right now surrounding plastic bottles with BPA which is a chemical used in polycarbonate plastic food and beverage containers and in resin linings for cans. Research has shown that BPA can leach into food from these containers and cans. Because BPA appears to cause health problems in animal studies, some scientists are concerned about the risk BPA poses to humans. Glass bottles of course don’t have BPA – so it’s one less thing to worry about. Of course, all of the Born Free products (even the plastic items) are all BPA free anyway.

One thing off the website that I plan on ordering to go with my new Born Free bottle is a breast pump adapter because then I can pump directly from my pump into the Born Free bottles! That will make storing up some milk super easy. The breast pump adapter fits most standard size breast pumps – so I just have to make sure that it will fit mine).

Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill Remastered is a remake of the 1998 version of the game under the same title. This game celebrates the 80th anniversary of Nancy Drew’s book which debuted in 1930.

Meant for ages 10 up and available on PC as well as Mac, Secrets Can Kill Remastered is a point and click game which features Nancy Drew going back to school to investigate a murder. The game commences with the option to select the level of difficulty from “Junior” to “Senior”. The teen sleuth makes a visit to her Aunt Eloise in Florida and was asked to help solve the murder of a student who was mysteriously murdered the night before at the local high school. Nancy goes undercover as a transfer student to get to the bottom of things before the killer has a chance to strike again.

For parents who are worried about this game featuring a murder in the plot, have no fear as there are no gory scenes involved. Though there are some spooky music and scary sounds, the fear factor was pretty mild to me. My only caution to parents is to be aware that the game does make reference to drugs.

Comparing my earlier experience with Nancy Drew’s Trail of The Twister, I am pleased to see that there are no petty chores required to be done by our young sleuth. Instead, Nancy Drew gets to solve a number of pretty easy and straightforward puzzles in the game. This of course, is the point of view of an adult. I honestly doubt my 10 year old son have the capability to solve these puzzles by himself as some of the clues are harder to decipher, for example, the coded message which involved 18 steps. Thus, I would recommend this game for older kids.

Location wise, it was somewhat limited as the bulk of the game was played in the local high school, Maxine’s diner or Aunt Loise’s home. As for the story,  it is rather short but there are plenty of interesting turns to keep you on your toes. One thing’s for sure, you will definitely be surprised by the ending. It was absolutely brilliant how the mystery was solved. I don’t want to divulge more but trust me when I say it’s worth all your patience and effort *winks*.

As far as visual was concerned, I thought that HER Interactive did a wonderful job. This remastered edition of the game had beautiful graphics of the characters and environment. On top of that, the enhanced soundtrack was great and the voiceover was equally impressive.

Overall, I would recommend it to older kids of age 12 and above and for fans of Nancy Drew games, this is definitely a classic you would want to have in your collection.

I received bestselling author, Brenda Novak’s latest novel, the autographed “White Heat“, together with a cute mini-tote and pink lip-balm (thanks Brenda! love it!),  and was eager to get into it. “White Heat”, a mystery romance, is the first from the Hired Gun Series, and features two main characters, “Nate Ferrentino” and “Rachel Jessop” who both work for a private security firm. “Rachel” narrates the story from her point of view and you could easily pick up the romantic tension between both “Nate” and “Rachel”. They are both thrown into an assignment which forces them to role-play as a married couple. They are hired to investigate an up and coming cult “The Church of Covenent”, in the middle of Arizona desert, in a place called “Paradise”.  It is led by a charismatic leader, “Ethan” and a sudden death of a young girl, brings a shroud of suspicion into this cult.  Being a romantic thriller, one would expect some sparks flying and heated moments and one gets it. As it is told from “Rachel’s” perspective, quite often she assumes that there is no romantic interest from her ‘husband’, but alls well that ends well.

Buy It! : I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. It’s always a bit of escapism for me, when it comes to romantic thrillers, and it so happens, that I’m always intrigued by cults. Cults are always about control, and I’ve often wondered why people would believe ‘false prophets’. While it seemed that Ethan” the very charismatic leader of the cult, who was meant to charm “Rachel”, it didn’t quite seem that way in the book. I personally felt that his second-in-command, “Bart”, had a more devious, evil and controlling manner about him. This is the first book, launched in July 31st, 2010 and it is packed solid with great story-telling from beginning to end. Brenda’s a gifted story-teller and I’m left to wonder what’s going to happen to “Rachel” and “Nate” now. Christine in her “Second Baby” Tee

When I heard that I was getting an opportunity to review a maternity shirt from Belly 9 I was extremely excited at first  but then I remembered, I can never ever get stuff online that fits. So, I figured I’d pick out a shirt and review the look and quality but probably never get to wear it. I was absolutely thrilled when I received my “Second Baby” tank top and it was not only adorable but it absolutely FIT me! I ordered a medium/large (their biggest size for that shirt) and it looks awesome (as shown in the photo above).  The chocolate brown tank is made from thermal cotton and feels incredibly comfortable too.

My second pick was the “push it, push it real good? tshirt (that totally made me laugh out loud) but I decided on “second baby” because this IS my second baby! I am always on the look out for a yummy treat for my little ones.  With their sensitivity to food dyes and preservatives it is often a challenge to find things they enjoy that I can feel good about giving them. Su had reviewed Dana Lehman’s  “A lesson about Teasing” and “I Double Dare You!” a few months ago, and had plenty of good things to say about both books. So, I was looking forward to receiving the latest title in the Walnut Grove Series called “I Can Do It“.  My 6 year old daughter was in the stage where she has learnt enough vocabulary to enjoy reading books on her own, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect!

First of all, hardcover books are my favourite for young children as they are more durable. So, I was glad to see that  ”I Can Do It” came in hardcover. That’s extra brownie points! ”I Can Do It“  is a story about Sammy the squirrel  with racoon eyes, who decided to bring his cousins and friends to Whispering Willows for a visit. On their way to the enchanted forest, Bucky The Beaver overcame his fear of swimming and managed to catch a giant frog in Paradise Pond. And when they finally reached Whispering Willows, Sammy revealed that they were going to build a tree house. Everyone was excited except for Silly, who was not confident of his building skills. Readers will discover how Silly, with the encouragement of his friends, finally gained his confidence and accomplished his task.

My daughter loved the beautiful illustration and also had a lot of fun searching for the hidden frogs and snakes in each page. What a fantastic fun idea! There were also questions at the end of the book which are meant to help young readers understand the  lesson behind the story. As a mom, I felt that it was indeed important to build up a child’s self esteem and confidence from a young age and “I Can Do It” is definitely a great tool to use to convey that message.

They’re here! They’re finally here!!

We were so excited when we were asked to check out these cute little creatures called Squinkies! From the moment I saw them, I knew that my girls were going to love them…. and I was right! Squinkies sent my girls a large pack to check out, and they really did like them. They wanted to play with them as soon as I opened the package! It was so great watching them and listening to them playing with the Squinkies. Their imagination just ran wild as they played, and some of the conversations their Squinkies had were just too funny! They must’ve played for hours with their Squinkies, I can’t imagine if we had any of the larger playsets or more Squinkies! What are Squinkies??? Well, they’re a soft, squishy surprize!

There’s hundreds of them to collect, and series of Kitties, Pets, Friends, Puppies, Ponies and Babies. The pack that we received even had some surprise Squinkies! The fun thing about them, is that my girls can play with them as stand alone toys, or with these very cute play sets that are also available. My favorite so far is a little puppy Squinkie that we received, my girls favor the kitties, and a teeny little elephant!

We did also receive the Cupcake Surprise Bake Shop, which is so cute! I also like that it provides a little bit of storage for the Squinkies when the girls aren’t playing with them. Squinkies also sent us the Under The Sea Surprize, and the Princess Surprize Bracelet. My girls were just so excited. I wish I would’ve had the video camera running when I took the play sets out of the box. My girls were screaming with excitement that they had play sets to play with their Squinkies!
