Have you ever had a time when your child eats ice-cream on a cone..and you’ll see the ice-cream melt faster than him eating it? It goes drip drip drip on your floor and your heart goes bip-bop just a little faster. And then, the kids step all over it..making the floor, just one big sticky mess? Ever? Well… I’ve had plenty of those moments, and I tell you it drives me up the wall. One of the factors being that we don’t wear shoes in the house, so we really get to feel the stickyness of the ice-cream…or what’s left of it.

Thankfully, when the people at Rubbermaid sent me their latest product the Reveal Spray Mop, I’ve had many excellent opportunities to test it out..and I’ve had less drama in my life, since then!

Buy It! : ..and here’s the big WHY you should get one. It seriously saves water! Normally, I’d use half a bucket of water to mop my entire house. With the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop, I only used 1 cup. Yup…just 200ml of plain water. Half a bucket = 5 litres. And, it was so easy to use, especially when kids mess up the floor… I just took out the Reveal Spray Mop, sprayed on the offending mess, and wiped it away. Good as new. I didn’t have the extra work of filling up the bucket and dunking it twice, squeeze excess water off, mopping it, dunking it again to rinse it off, squeeze excess water off, mopping again, and dunking it to clean it off, squeeze excess water, drain the water from the bucket….phew! even typing all that was tiring!

Even washing the microfibre pad was a breeeeeze! All I had to do was remove the visible dust balls, and let the washing machine do the rest. Honestly, it was really so much less work! Works well on most floors – wood/timber and tiles. It is non-battery operated, as you trigger the spray at the handle (pretty similar to a spray bottle). And the mop swivels just about any nook and cranny. I was really impressed at how it just swivelled whereever I wanted it to.

It was sooo easy, that even my 8 year old could clean up his (and his brothers’) mess!!!!!! Now…less work + increased effectiveness + less time = a very happy you. If this doesn’t do it for you, I’m not sure what will.

You can get it at selected Bunnings stores, and it is retailing for AUD39.90, and the microfibre pad is available separately at AUD9.99 (but it will last for 100 washes, so I think it’s pretty long-lasting).

This book ‘If I could keep you little’, written and illustrated by Marianne Richmond, couldn’t have come at a better time. My littlest guy who is turning 3 in a couple of months, will also be attending kinder this year. For the longest time, we kept referring to him as baby, or baby bear. Because he is our baby. At the back of my mind, I knew he was going to kinder, but it didn’t really dawn on me, that he is growing up, and is no longer a baby.

A endearingly bittersweet book where parents who don’t want their babies to grow up too quickly, and yet, want to see their kids realise their dreams and experience life’s ups and downs.

All in all, very beautiful artwork in a book.  As a parent, you always want your child to remain just the way they are, but at the same time, you know that growing up is part of the package, and there’s nothing to stop that. Her book captured exactly how I felt, and reminded me to savor every minute of their childhood, be it their tantrumy, sicky or happy days. The story behind the game is this: with the busy holiday season approaching, Nintendo was looking to find new ways to improve speed and efficiency at its always-busy distribution facility in North Bend, Wash. In the past, the company has tried a number of solutions, including having Donkey Kong roll packages down a set of girders into waiting trucks or expediting deliveries through warp pipes.

This year one of the suggested innovations included the use of wind-up Mini Mario toys…

Bad idea.

Initially the use of the helpful Mini Marios seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately, they were not guided appropriately and soon marched non-stop throughout the entire building, climbing girders, riding conveyor belts and causing a bit of mayhem.

They overran Nintendo’s facility for a short time, but operations have since been returned to normal, thank goodness…

The incident was caught on camera and shared with the area’s local television news station,
DK-TV, who was the first to cover the news. Reporter Ken Darling covers the story in this video above.
