My kids are little builders and destroyers. It’s like they take their lessons from construction workers and create an elaborate plan, and then destroys it with just as much precision to create the optimal mess!!

When the CitiBlocs found their way to my door two weeks ago, my toddlers were giddy with excitement! I opened the perfectly proportioned block that they were in knowing they would NEVER be so contained again.

These blocks are awesome!

We received the 100 block set and it has 20 of the following colors: Turquoise, dark blue, light green, dark green and natural wood. My daughters are still getting used to the idea of sharing, and we are working hard on getting them to play with the blocks and NOT knock over the other persons “creation” even if it looks like an alien baby put it together.

I am excited for Jacob to come home this weekend and get his hands on these! He’s a meticulous kid that can focus when he wants to…. It would be a lot of fun to create some of the cool ships and buildings they have in the “idea book” that comes with the blocks. Great bonding time, right?

Before a child enters into kindergarten there is a large list of things they must know. Whether they learn it in preschool or at home it doesn’t matter, as long as they know how to count, tell colors, write their name, differentiate between letters and be accepting to social interaction.

We all know that a child does not learn by being forced into a chair and studying until their eyes cross, they learn through play, through touch and smell. They learn with all their senses, so outdoor play is tantamount to their success but when you live in places where the weather does not always permit outdoor play, there is another option.

Games like the Moo and Baa game by Haba are a great way to help your child learn color, shapes and memory. It is a fun game that is easy for a three year old to understand. When my daughters and I sat down and played we separated the wooden animals into color, then mixed them up and put them into the separate pouches. The girls then had to pull (without looking) the animals out one by one and try to beat the other child by putting them on the color coordinated card and get ALL the animals in the barn first.

My 3 and 4 year old really enjoyed it, and the colors Red and White now have new meaning to them. It’s a fun way to teach them color coordination and tactile skills while they are putting the matching animal on its mat.

My children are all taught that most of life is full of non-gender roles.

What I used to call policemen, are now police officers. Teachers are male and female as can be presidents and military officials.

So when given the chance to take my toddler girls outside of the realm of their traditional apron and kitchen playtime as they normally have, (I got them a kitchen, pots pans and matching aprons) it was wonderful to give them these cute outfits to expand their playtime.

Becoming a mom, has changed my life in so many ways that I never thought would change. For example, finding time….close to impossible! Or eating immediately after cleaning up poo.

But, what I never thought I’d go through were the little accidents that I would have whenever I sneezed, cough, laughed too hard or doing jumping jacks with my kids. I am truly a lucky girl! One of my newest passions is devouring chocolates. I have to admit, I was never a chocoholic growing up. But, my eldest son, just loves his chocolates.
