Blog Giveaway : 3 Gift Choice From The Whimsical Stork

GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

I find it amazing that The Whimsical Stork was born out of a brainstorming session at Starbucks. Don’t you agree that only mommies can handle such a wonderful feat? And that was exactly how lawyer turned mompreneur Julia Hall founded her business.

About The Whimsical Stork:

The Whimsical Stork, LLC is a mom-owned business dedicated to providing quality, handmade baby gifts and celebratory yard decoration rentals. All of our stork rental and birthday rental decorations are handpainted (you’ll notice that no two are exactly alike) with much love. Our minky dot bunnies and minky lined blankets have been tested by our own children and designed to be practical as well as beautiful. None of our baby gifts are drop-shipped from a manufacturer, all of our gifts are handmade by women in small quantities with great attention to detail and lots of love.

There are so many adorable products on this site that it is quite difficult to pick a favourite item. Check out the beautiful handmade yellow and white tutu which is just perfect for the little angel or princess. You will also love the handmade Whimsical Minky Lined Blankets which comes with FREE personalization and suitable for all purpose. Every blanket ordered will be wrapped in tulle, tied with a big bow and a gift card will also be included. Tell me if this isn’t one of the best gift for a baby!

Rest assured The Whimsical Stork is not all about the baby only, as mommies are not forgotten. You know how often we mommies are never equipped with pen and paper at the right time? Well, the mommy calling cards here are just perfect to hand out for playdates, nurseries, to give to your kids’ teachers or even to promote your business. This is definitely a must-have for busy parents and I know I sure can’t live without my calling cards. ;)

Joy Of Pregnancy Book Review

ISBN-10: 1558323066

ISBN-13: 978-1558323063

There are so many pregnancy books out there that I was kind of skeptical when asked to review Joy Of Pregnancy.  Coming from an author who is a longtime perinatal nurse, I had expected Tori Kropp’s book to overwhelm me with complicated medical information but instead, she captures the excitement, fun, anticipation and joy during this special time in one’s life. I found her lighthearted and encouraging tone very refreshing, which is definitely a plus for readers who are pregnant for the first time.

Joy of Pregnancy is divided into chapters which explains what’s happening to your body and the various stages of your baby’s development. In the book, Tori encourages pregnant women to focus on the positive aspect of pregnancy rather than worry about the rare complications that might happen within these nine months. I am sure first time pregnant moms will find this book reassuring. There is also a useful and practical monthly rundown of what you can do to prepare for your baby’s arrival. Another positive feature of Joy Of Pregnancy  is that it can be shared by a couple as expectant dads are not left out - There’s even a section dedicated just for the daddies to be!

About the Author, Tori Kropp:

Tori Kropp, R.N. is a perinatal nurse who has delivered thousands of babies at the prestigious California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. She is the founder of Stork Site®, a community website for expectant and new parents, which she will relaunch in January 2008 at www.storksite.net. Known as “the Dear Abby of pregnancy,” Kropp has been interviewed on national television and radio and in national print publications, including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Washington Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution and Chicago Sun-Times. She lives in Marin County, California, with her family.

Why not read how our Parent Reviewers felt about Joy Of Pregnancy?

Loving Heart MommyThis book is extremely up to date, there was a lot I read in the book that I hadn’t even heard about before! Just as times are changing so is each and every pregnancy! Even now on my third pregnancy I am no “expert” and there is always new knowledge to be obtained , this book is a must no matter how many children you have. I would also recommend that the Father of your child read this book either alone or along with you as a great way to be supportive in your pregnancy. What I’m getting at here is this is definately a “must-have” book for anyone that is considering becoming pregnant or is pregnant! Loving Heart Mommy highly recommends it!

Mommy Meryl Must Haves - Let me begin by simply asking, WHERE WAS THIS BOOK WHEN I WAS PREGNANT?

If you are pregnant, The Joy of Pregnancy, by Tori Kropp, R.N. is a must have for you! If you know someone pregnant, please buy this book for him or her – they will love you for it! This is a book about enjoying and celebrating pregnancy – not worrying someone with too much medical jargon of what things might or might not happen to you when you are pregnant.

Sassy Frazz - I think that **Tori Kropp did a great job informing pregnant moms about what to expect, what to do to prepare, what is “normal” and how to get ready for our little baby. **Tori has many years of experience working with pregnant women, so I think she is a pillar of information and experience. I recommend this book to all women in their first pregnancy all the way to their last pregnancy. I think this book would make a great gift to a new momma, too!

Mrs.Mogul – The book is written by Tori Kropp, a childbirth educator and nurse (so she is experienced). I did find The Joy of Pregnancy a little bit too technical and not very personal, but if you’re looking for a manual and something other than the 8th million updated version of What To Expect When You’re Expecting then it’s for you.

Shake The SaltIf you are expecting, I would recommend picking up a copy of Tori Kropp’s The Joy Of Pregnancy.  I don’t think you will find a more easily digested, practical resource for your pregnancy.

Atomic Mama – Cue “The Joy of Pregnancy” written by Tori Kropp, RN! This book is amazing, reassuring, and is an incredibly easy read. Tori teaches her readers to slow down, stop worrying and enjoy the pregnancy! The book goes over what is and isn’t safe during pregnancy (including Europe vs. United States!) and includes a question and answer section. There is even a large section for “Dad’s” right in the middle of the book!

Crumley Family Blog – I’ll interrupt here and tell you I do recommend this book. However, I don’t recommend reading it all in one sitting. In my opinion, it is a reference book to be referred to as you get to each stage in your pregnancy.

The chapters are divided up by four week increments, giving an overview of development of baby and mom, interjecting the author’s personal experience (she’s a nurse and a mom), and letting the reader in on different choices to be made during the nine month journey.
